Our association's vocation is historical research in Saintonge and more particularly in the Pays Ouest Charente and Grande Champagne.
Our research covers all aspects of the past life and culture of our territory: history, geography, economy, genealogy, etc. We make an irreplaceable contribution to the knowledge of the history of Cognac and its economy from the 17th century onwards.
For 30 years, our publications have been recognised academic references in France and Western Europe. They are published in the “Annales du GREH”, available at our office in Segonzac. We are also involved in schools, media libraries and trade fairs for events and we bring our expertise to institutions.
We offer the public monthly lectures on the themes of regional life and culture in Cognac and in the communes of the Pays Ouest.
